Super Cute Origami Kit Review

Recently, I had the pleasure to review the Super Cute Origami Kit By Yuki Martin and Illustrations by Emily Watanabe.  It contains a Full-Color Instruction Book, 48 Folding Sheets, stickers, sequins, rhinestones, pearls, and a lace washi tape.  Pretty much everything you needed to create some super adorable origami, and then some.

My daughter was super excited when we received the set.  We opened the package together and she started to read the instruction booklet on her own.  She told me that besides the instructions on creating the origami, the booklet also includes some fun facts.  I love it when a play set is also educational.

My daughter started with a couple easy ones, and she was able to complete them all on her own.  She loves the fact that they were rated in different difficulty levels so that she could practice on easy ones first.

Did you know what the Russian Nesting Dolls are called Matryoshka?  I certainly didn’t.  It was one of the fun fact from the set!  I love learning new things every day!  This Super Cute Origami Set is amazing.  Beside entertaining, it also help the kids follow instructions, and also inspire them to be creative.  My daughter designed and drew the patterns for the dolls’ little dresses (see picture below).  I think they are super adorable!

The Maneki Neko, the infamous Japanese Lucky Cat, was one of the origami with the highest difficulty.  At first, my Daughter wasn’t sure if she can handle it all by herself.  But after completing the cupcake and Russian Nesting Dolls Set, she built up her confident and gave it a try.  She was so proud of herself when she did it!

My daughter had so much fun playing with this Super Cute Origami Kit.  She brought it to a play date to share with her friend (a couple years older than my Daughter) and they had fun making Masquerade Party Masks together!  If you’re looking for fun and educational activities for your kiddos on Spring Breaks, weekends, rainy days, or the up coming Summer Breaks, I highly recommend this Super Cute Origami KitSimply click here for more information.  Thank you again for Tuttle Publishing for sending the kit for review.

Are you ready for the holiday seasons?  I’m quite excited this year as we’ll have some relatives visiting from overseas to spend the holidays with us.  It’ll definitely be a wonderful family reunion and great celebration!  I can’t wait!  What are your family traditions for the holidays?  For my family, gift exchange is one of our favorite tradition during Christmas.  It does not have to be expensive gifts as it is always the thoughts that matter the most!  I personally like giving out homemade gifts.  Or, gifts that are useful and practical.  If you wrap or package your gifts nicely, it’ll definitely elevate the appeal of your gifts.  Today, I’m excited to share the review with you on the “Perfect Gift Wrapping Ideas” craft book, the Chinese Silk wrapping paper, and the Japanese Kimono wrapping paper!

Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids Review and Worldwide Giveaway

Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids Review and Worldwide Giveaway

Over the weekend, my kids and I checked out the Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids book.  This book is the ultimate collection of easy-to-fold, high-performance planes for kids who are fascinated by paper or origami airplanes.  Can you imagine how much fun we had?  I remember I love folding paper airplanes with my brothers when I was a little kid myself.  We would fold up our favorite paper planes and see who can fly them the furthest!  This book sure brings back lots of fun memories!

Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids Review and Worldwide Giveaway

What I love most about this book is that it opens with a fascinating primer to the principles of flight.  My kids read and learned about the forces that enable a plane to fly and affect the performance of their planes.  They had so much fun testing out the planes they made by coaxing the planes through their paces: doing loops, barrel rolls, glides and dives.

Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids Review and Worldwide Giveaway

This paper airplanes kit contains detailed instructions for each paper plane(12 designs in total), 48 pre-cut paper airplane models printed with colorful and realistic designs, over special durable lightweight cardstock.  The instructions were easy to follow and the marked lines on the paper really make it easy to fold the perfect lines where they should be.

Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids Review and Worldwide Giveaway

And what makes this book the ultimate?  It has to be the pull-out airport runway for landing maneuvers!  We were testing out the paper airplanes that we made and competing who can get the planes closest to the landing spot!  It was such an educational and fun weekend for us.   Yes, yours truly was included when I said “we” and “us”!  I guess I’m just a big kid, after all!  As you know, the holiday is fast approaching, this Ultimate Paper Airplanes for Kids book would be the perfect gift for the little ones.  The best part is that you can create some new and fun memories with your kids because of this book!

Paleo Italian Cookbook Review and a Worldwide Giveaway

Paleo Italian Cookbook Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

Recently, I have the honor to partner with Tuttle Publishing to review the Paleo Italian cookbook, by Cindy Barbieri.  Cindy has been cooking and hanging out in her Nana’s Italian kitchen before she was tall enough to reach the kitchen counter-top!  Her Grandmother believes in “feed your man and he’ll always come home to you”.  What a wise women and I totally believe in that as well.

Paleo Italian Cookbook Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

This Paleo Italian cookbook is for someone who is somewhat familiar with the basic principles of Paleo diet, which avoids dairy, grains, legumes, vegetable oils, processed sugar and most other processed foods.  Pretty much a clean, healthy and wholesome diet, in my humble opinion.  At the beginning, I was really doubtful on how authentic Italian cooking could also be Paleo compatible as most Italian dishes involve pasta, pizza and pastry!  Barbieri sure did proved me wrong from her cookbook.  She cleverly substitute some ingredients such as using coconut oil and olive oil instead of vegetable oil; she also used almond and coconut flour instead of traditional wheat flour, to make Paleo cooking a breeze.

Paleo Italian Cookbook Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

In the Paleo Italian cookbook, you’ll find useful information from ingredient and tool lists, helpful cooking method and tips, to places to visit and dine out in Italy!  It also includes 100 authentic and easy-to-follow Italian recipes ranging from Sauces & Condiment, Appetizers, Brunch, Tuscan Favorites, Soup & Stews, Meat & Seafood Main Courses, Side Dishes to Dessert and cocktails.  Many dishes are perfect for weeknight dinners as well as weekend entertaining.  I can’t wait to try the Brick-Baked Cornish Game Hens, Braised Tuscan Pork Chops, Dover Sole Piccata, and the Lemon Apple & Caramel Bread Pudding, just to name a few!

Cafe Spice Cookbook Review and Giveaway

Cafe Spice Cookbook Review and Giveaway

I adore Indian cuisine and I am so excited to have the opportunity to review the Café Spice Cookbook.  The author of the book, Chef Hari Nayak, is on a mission to spread the enjoyment of Indian cuisine to everyone he meets.  The Café Spice Cookbook is a wonderful book that is perfect for today’s health-conscious home cooks to prepare light and fresh version of classic Indian dishes, most of which are naturally vegetarian and gluten free recipes.

Cafe Spice Cookbook Review and Giveaway

There are 84 quick and easy Indian recipes to choose from.  I also love the fact that most of the recipes are ready in 30 minutes.  Chef Nayak covered recipes on Chutneys and Accompaniments, Vegetables and Cheese, Fish and Seafood, Poultry and Meat, Breads, Rice and Grains, to Desserts and Drinks.  For sure, you’re going to find something that you would like to prepare and learn more about in this wonderful book.  There are many recipes from the book that I can’t wait to try, such as Dried Bombay Beef, Spiced Crab Cakes, Coconut Rice and Mango Lassi.

Cafe Spice Cookbook Review and Giveaway

This Café Spice Cookbook will also walk you through some simple techniques such as browning, deep-frying, roasting and grinding of spices, which are all essentials to the success of Indian cooking.   He also explain some helpful tips and tools he used in the recipe, along with a detail list of Indian Ingredients.  I am surprised that I already have most of the spices and ingredients in my pantry.  I guess the Chinese cuisine and Indian cuisine do share some similarity in the spices we use.

Prosecco-Blueberry-Lemon Pops and a Giveaway!

Prosecco-Blueberry-Lemon Pops and a Giveaway! http://uTry.it

Still remember this gorgeous Nutella Melt Winter Cocktail that I shared (<—click on the name for the recipe) a while ago?  Great news!  The author of Winter Cocktails, María del Mar Sacasa,  just published her new book, Summer Cocktails!   With L.A.’s crazily hot temperature over the past few months, I’ve been longing for refreshing summer cocktails, way before summer arrives!  If you love to host summer parties, this book is a must have and I’ll tell you why.

Prosecco-Blueberry-Lemon Pops and a Giveaway! http://uTry.it

As I read through the book (yes, I am a nerd and I read cookbooks like they’re novels), this Prosecco-Blueberry-Lemon Pops really caught my attention.  I love prosecco and always have a bottle or 2 chilled in the fridge, in case of emergency!  So, I gave this recipe a try and it was amazing.  You can serve these boozy pops as is, or as Sacasa suggested, add them to your glass of Prosecco to keep your drink chilled and add some wonderful flavors at the same time.  What a great idea!

Prosecco-Blueberry-Lemon Pops and a Giveaway! http://uTry.it

Summer Cocktails is one of the most gorgeous books that I’ve came across as it’s filled with gorgeous photography and design that will give you lots of inspiration on things to serve for a cool summer party.  Of course, you’ve got to have cocktails and small bits at the party while your guests mingle.  Summer Cocktails includes many familiar classics, throwbacks, and modern updates.  It also covers punches and pitchers that are perfect for entertaining.  The frosty drinks, infused liquors, gourmet snacks sections all include tutorials to guide you through the preparation process!  Best of all, the recipes are clear and very easy to follow.  You’re going to fall in love with this book, just like I did!

Origami Butterflies Book Review and Giveaway

Origami Butterflies Book Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

My Kids and I love Origami!  Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture.  We've done many different ones in the past, insects, zoo animals, birds, etc; and loved them all.  The folding process really calms me down as we get so focus in creating these amazing paper arts.  It was wonderful that I had the chance to review the book Origami Butterflies.

Origami Butterflies Book Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

There are many different designs of butterflies that you can create by following the step by step pictorial and instructions in the book.  You can also start with their basic method, and then elaborate and create your own designs.  Okay, who am I kidding here?!  Those who knows me well probably know that I’m not too good in reading directions, at all!  I got lost a few time reading it!  Luckily, the book comes with 2 instructional DVDs that show you video tutorials, every step of the way, phew!  By watching the videos, both of my kids were able to make their own butterflies with minimal supervision and assistance.  That was truly amazing and they felt so accomplished when they were able to make their own butterflies!

Origami Butterflies Book Review and Giveaway http://uTry.it

I got these Origami papers at a local craft store.  You can easily find them these day, as well as getting some online (click here for more information).  I got some different designs and the double-sided ones are wonderful with these butterflies as well.

My Baby Girl added the Origami butterflies to her school project!  They were so beautiful; her teachers and schoolmates were very impressed as well.

The Origami butterfly makes any card a lot more elegant and personal.  For sure you won’t find anything as beautiful as this in the card store.  Plus, I think handmade crafts always add a touch of caring and love, won’t you agree?
