Strawberry Milky Lollipop 士多啤梨牛奶棒棒糖

Have your kids started their Spring Break yet?  I know my kids couldn’t wait to have some time off from school.  They want to feel free and not have to worry about homework, exams, book reports, etc.  Today, I’ve a super fun and cute recipe for you to welcome Spring Break!  Check out these Strawberry Milky Lollipops!  Aren’t they the cutest things you’ve seen lately?  Best of all, they are really yummy as well.

I made these Strawberry Milky Lollipop over the weekend with my Baby Girl.  If you’re looking for some fun activities to do with your kids on their days off, this recipe would be a fun and delicious project.  These lollipops are also a perfect treat if you’re planning a kids party as well.

The flavors of these homemade Strawberry Milky Lollipops remind me of these Strawberry and Cream lollipops that I loved when I was young.  Better yet, my homemade version is made with real strawberries and no artificial flavors or coloring.  Since there are only a few ingredients in these lollipop candies, the strawberry flavor truly comes through.

If you haven’t done so, be sure to check out my video tutorial at the top of this post on how to make these cuties!  I’ll show you step by step on how to make the traditional lollipop shapes and the strawberry shaped ones as well.

An alternate to shaping the lollipop is to cut the rolled candy into tiny dots (as shown in the picture above.)  I personally prefer these smaller ones as they are perfect for 'portion control!'  I’ll list all the ingredients and tools used in this recipe at the end of the post for your reference.

Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cookies and a Giveaway

118edited

Do good things come in small packages?  Oh yeah.  I couldn’t agree more.  Although I’m short, but no, I’m not talking about myself.  As I was searching for more cookie ideas to bake for this holiday season, I was munching on these Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cookies that I’ve just made.  They are tiny one-bite cookies that are packed with wonderful flavors with different texture in each layer.  But honestly, I can’t quite focus on searching for other cookies while indulging these Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cookies as the same time.  With a glass of milk, I wanted to take a nap instead of doing my “research”!  What a tough job that I have here.

Recently, I’ve received the OXO Mini Measuring Beaker Set and the Good Cookie Spatula (see pictures below) from the nice people at OXO.  They are nice not just because they sent me these awesome products to try out; but they are folks who also care about others who are in need.  Have you heard of the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer?  It’s a non-profit organization that focuses on helping kids with cancer to get the funding for better treatments.  Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by OXOnians (OXO employees).  OXO encourages bloggers, bakers, and the like to participate in the Bake a Difference project.  For every donation or bake sale registered at www.cookiesforkidscancer.org that mentions OXO, they will match the funds up to $100,000! For more information, here’s the Cookie for Kids’ Cancer website.

So, what are you waiting for?  Spread the words and host a bake sale.  I think it’s a nice gesture to give back a little this Holiday season.

I’ve always been a big fan for OXO’s products and designs.  This Mini Measuring Beaker Set didn’t disappoint me at all!  It’s so easy to measure small amount of ingredients, and I won’t spill them all over the place any more (especially when the mixer running, with one hand trying to pour the ingredient into the running machine, and the other hand holding the heavy camera trying to take a picture at the same time!)  You know this is how I roll when taking my pictorial pictures.  See, I’ve told you I have a tough job. Smile

The picture below shows the marshmallow already piped onto the cookies before dipping into the chocolate.  The marshmallow “kisses” are soft, light, and fluffy; sitting on top of the crunchy and crumbly cookies. hm…..

After the mallow-topped cookies are dipped into the semi-sweet melted chocolate, they became perfect.  Perfectly addictive.  The semi-sweet chocolate coating gives these cookies a wonderful chocolaty flavor and a slight crunch when bite into them.

Strawberry Marshmallows—Marshmallow Madness! Giveaway

152edited

Ever since I made my very first batch of homemade marshmallows, I’ve never look back to the store bought options.  So, when the kind folks from Quirk Books offered me a review copy of “Marshmallow Madness!”, by Shauna Sever, I jumped right at the opportunity.

075edited

Marshmallow Madness!” is a delightful cookbook that shows you how to create dozens of marshmallows flavors and shapes, from strawberry and banana to sea salt caramel swirl and margarita marshmallows.  Also, included are inspiring ideas for crafting these gooey treats made with mallow, and much, much more.

037edited

If you have never made your own marshmallows before, don’t get intimidated.  Shauna’s book came with detail instructions and explanations on tools and techniques.  It feels like she’s in the kitchen with you, guiding you through step by step.  Most of Shauna’s recipes are egg-less (based on gelatin and sugar syrup), verses using egg-white meringue .  As Shauna explained in her book, the egg-less version result in sturdier mallows and avoid issues of food allergies and raw egg whites.

Unfortunately, the first 2 trials of my egg-less version of mallows turned out a bit too firmed for me to shape them properly.  So, I added egg white into Shauna’s strawberry mallow recipe on my 3rd trial and they came out fluffy and beautiful.  I’ve never had issues with raw egg whites, if that’s a concern for you, try to use pasteurized egg whites or stick with Shauna’s recipes.  (Note: the pasteurized egg white might take a longer time to whip up but they eventually will.)

Mallow in Progress

Ready to take a peek inside the book?  Have some tissue paper ready, you might drool a little.  It’s okay, I won’t tell. Smile with tongue out

See the varieties of creations that you can do with mallows?  Hm….I wonder what I should try next! Mallow Cones or S’mores cupcakes?  The Salted Caramel Swirl and the Key Lime Pie Mallows are calling my name, too!  These are just a few examples of what you can make with mallows, and there are so many more wonderful creations from the book.

Inside the Book

These Chocolate-Filled Vanilla Marshmallows are just as tempting!

The Strawberry Marshmallows I made from “Marshmallow Madness!” are wonderful.  Not only there are real strawberries puree in them, the recipe also called for folding in freeze-dried strawberries at the end.  You can imagine, the strawberry flavor is very intense.  I love the tartness from the strawberries which balanced perfectly with the sweetness from these mallows.  Just one bite…I’m in strawberries heaven. These are fluffy, pillow-ey, strawberr-ey goodness.
