Unicorn Frappuccino – With All-Natural Coloring

Last week, Starbucks introduced a special drink that was only available for a limited time.  Yes, it was offer to the general public for less than a week only!   Many of my friends and family rushed to their nearest Starbucks locations and lined up for this specialty drink: The infamous Unicorn Frappuccino! Were you one of them who tried?

Unfortunately, the review and feedback of this drink was not as positive as the enthusiasm of the Starbucks fans!  It was quite a mixed review, I must say.  Some described it as a refreshing sour mango-flavored drink.  Some said it was a waste of money and tasted too artificial, etc.  I guess, the artificial came from the coloring of the drink?

Hence today, I’m sharing my sort of copycat version of the Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino with you!  Why “sort of”? Because my version would probably taste nothing closed to the original version of this drink.  But the look and color is definitely a replica!  Only, I’m using all-natural coloring in my recipe!

Yes, all natural color in my recipe, including this gorgeous hue of blue!  If you haven’t watch my video tutorial above, what are you still waiting for?  You’ll discover the secret ingredient that I used to create this gorgeous blue color!  It was truly magical to see the transformation of the color!

My homemade version of the Unicorn Frappuccino is a Blue Vanilla Frappuccino, layered with Purple Blackberry Frappuccino, topped with cotton candy and edible gold stars!  It’s whimsical, magical, refreshing and oh so delicious!  The sweetness from the Vanilla Frappuccino balanced really well with the tangy Blackberry Frappuccino layer!  Of course, you can top these with whipped cream instead of cotton candy.  But I think the cotton candy adds a layer of dreaminess to this special drink!  If you’re hosting a Unicorn themed party, this drink will definitely be the star of the show!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Leave me a comment below and tell me if you’ve tried the Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino and what did you think about it?  If you tried my homemade version, be sure to let me know as well!  I would love to hear from you!  Stay tuned for more fun and magical recipe next week!

Mixed Berries and Cream Tart 雜莓奶油撻 – For Memorial Day!

Are you ready for the upcoming long weekend?  Next Monday (May 30th) is Memorial Day.  It is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who pass away while serving in the country's armed forces.  I salute to all those who served our country and keep us safe!  Thank you and your family for all your sacrifices!

On a lighter note, the Memorial weekend is also the unofficial kick off of the summer grilling season!  I’ll share a few of my favorites grilling recipes at the end of this post.  If you’re hosting or attending a BBQ party this weekend, I highly recommend that you prepare this Mixed Berries and Cream Tart 雜莓奶油撻 to share with your friends and family!  What is a party without desserts, right?

This Mixed Berries and Cream Tart is one of my favorite summer dessert.  The tart shell is a combination of buttery and almond crust.  The slightly nutty flavor adds the charming characteristic to this flaky crust.  I filled the tart with the classic pastry cream and it’s quite simple to prepare.  Be sure to check out the YouTube video at the beginning of this post for the step-by-step tutorial.

The stars of the show are really these gorgeous, sweet and juicy summer berries!  I used a combination of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries.  You can use anything you like.  For a glorious sheen finish, I brush these berries with a simple orange marmalade glaze.  You can find the link to my homemade orange marmalade recipe at the end of this post as well.  This Mixed Berries and Cream Tart is perfect for any summer celebration!  Red, white, and blue for the patriotic colors and packed with the season’s best summer berries.  It truly is a feast for the eyes and for your tummy! I guarantee your friends and family will love this dessert!

Blackberry Macaron with Meyer Lemon Buttercream

uTry.it

Yeah, I’m on Macaron “madness” lately, LOL.  Seems like a lot of the sweet recipes that I posted lately involved Macarons.  What can I say, these Blackberry Macaron with Meyer Lemon Buttercream are my latest creation and they got me my very first “paid” Macarons order after a “taste test”.  Open-mouthed smile

uTry.it

No doubt that I’m happy to receive my very first Macaron order (without any advertising or marketing efforts); I’m actually more thrilled that someone appreciate and loves my creations.  Smile It really makes me happy if my products can put a smile on someone's face.

Ha…I guess it’s about time to promote and advertise my products here then!  Smile with tongue out  It really made me want to start a little home bakery and share all kinds of baked goods with more people out there.  Shall I?  Will you purchase from me if you live in my area?  What should I include in my bakery?  Leave me a comment and let me know, would you?  I really want to get your feedback before I get my feet too wet!  LOL.  Thank you and I truly appreciate your supports!
